This game sets players with the task of completing each level by using 3 different characters. Much of the game's appeal came from the humorous inter-level dialogues of the characters. The game featured infinite opportunities of retries in case the player were to lose one of the Vikings. The game's originality is due to the fact that the player controls three different characters (although only one at any given time), and must make use of their individual abilities and their combination to solve puzzles and progress. The goal is to guide all Vikings safely through each level. With the increased focus on dodging and the shear firepower this produces I honestly found the game very easy until I hit about level 6 or 7.The main characters are three Vikings, Erik the Swift, Baleog the Fierce, and Olaf the Stout. Hopefully this helps someone out there who was as frustrated as me. It is better to waste a bomb and keep your drones and upgrades at max. Use this to your advantage and don't waste bombs clearing the screen, use them when you're in a sticky situation to avoid taking the hit. An important thing to note is that bombs provide a few seconds of invincibility. If you lose a drone prioritize getting it back but then wait for every upgrade to turn into a bomb. This means you're getting tons of points and there's less things to dodge.įrom hear you simply stock up on bombs with every upgrade. When the rapid fire combines with 2 Drones and Lvl 2 Side Shot you will be clearing every screen almost instantly until you hit level 7 or 8. Not only will drones sack hits for you, they will shooting homing missiles at enemies, which means no matter where you are on the screen you will be killing enemies. Once again these Max at 2 so don't try picking up a 3rd. Plasma can be good for the bosses but with the increased rate of fire the Side Shot will clear the screen much faster and it can be hard to get back to your Lvl 2 Side shot when you need it so I recommend staying on Side Shot the whole time.Īfter getting your upgrades prioritize getting 2 Drones. Do not pick up any Side Shot or Plasma upgrades after this because you will not gain any benefit from them. I highly recommend getting the side shot upgrade as your first priority and then upgrading it once by picking up another. If it's not what you want or need wait and it will cycle through all the upgrades. If an upgrade appears don't be too ancy to pick it up. This took me way too long to figure out but if you're right handed this is much easier than using the arrow keys. Any program you can find that will allow you to hold a mouse or keyboard button to constantly spam the SPACE bar will work.Ģ. NOTE: X-Mouse is one way to accomplish this with a mouse. This alone will drastically increase your score but there's a few more tips to fully maximize this automation. Now when you go play simply hold down the mouse button that spams SPACE and you can focus all your attention on dodging. If you do, you will no longer be able to click on anything on your computer unless you Ctrl+Alt+Del and shut down X-Mouse in Task Manager) (PSA: don't set your left click to anything. If you have another button to spare I would set it to CTRL so you can trigger your bombs more easily. If you keep it on 0 the program defaults to your computers repeat rate which will be slower (even though this seems like it would be faster). Use X-Mouse to set your extra mouse button to, change the option to "repeat when held" and change the delay from 0 to 1 millisecond. For this to work best you'll need a mouse with at least 1 extra button, preferably 2. This free little program allows you to set the keys of your mouse to other buttons when pressed. To do this download X-Mouse Button Control. Hence, the goal here is to automate this rapid fire so a button can simply be held and provide maximum firepower while your full attention is on dodging. However, after a few minutes of this it can become very hard to keep it up, not to mention it's very distracting to do while dodging enemies and attacks. This limiting factor makes spamming the space bar as fast as possible a much more effective means of attacking. Holding the space bar in Lost Viking provides a fairly slow repeated shot, likely due to how fast your keyboard repeats when keys are held. If you're still reading this here's my list of tips and tricks. After giving it a shot for the first time about 30 minutes ago I scored 805,300! My highest score prior to that was 155,400 just for context. I've been struggling with this achievement for the last week or so and finally decided to take the time and set up this little trick with my mouse. It essentially boils down to setting up an automated spam for your space bar with "X-Mouse Button Control" and playing the upgrades in the game right. For all you achievement hunters out there struggling with Lost Viking, here's a little guide on how to get 500,000 fairly easily.
